Depressed techie commits suicide by inhaling nitrogen fumes in car

BENGALURU: A techie, who was under depression, committed suicide in his car by inhaling nitrogen fumes from a canister at Mahalakshmi Layout on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Vijay Kuamr (51), a senior software engineer at a reputed firm. He was suffering from a heart disease and was undergoing treatment for the same, but was having trouble breathing. He was depressed due to this and decided to end his life.

Vijay Kumar researched ways to commit suicide without pain and found that if the fumes of nitrogen are inhaled, he will lose consciousness and die without any pain. On Monday evening, he took his car, parked it near Kurubarahalli Park, and asked an unknown person to cover it while he sat inside. He closed the window and opened a 3-kg nitrogen cylinder inside the car.

Vijay Kumar covered his face with plastic, and inhaled nitrogen through a pipe to end his life. Before committing suicide, he stuck a handwritten note on the window of his car saying, “No one should open the car door because of poisonous gas inside the car; if someone opens the door, it will cause problems. Only open the door when policeĀ  come with experts”.

Vijay Kumar released nitrogen gas in the car and committed suicide.

A case has been registered at the Mahalakshmi Layout police station and further investigation is under way.
