MYSURU: “Democracy needs good people and people like Dr C N Manjunath should enter politics”, said H R Ranganath, chairman of Public TV, at a felicitation ceremony in honour of the former director of the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bengaluru, held at Kalamandir here on Monday evening.

H R Ranganath, who was the chief guest, said that democracy needs good people. “Civilized people should come forward to strengthen democracy. It is surprising that he did not get involved in politics, even for a moment, during his entire career as a doctor. Politics is not bad, politics needs good people like him”, he said.

Ranganath requested that Dr Manjunath should accept public sentiments. “Accept it as a challenge, as wishs and desire of the people. After completing 35 years in government service, it is difficult to create this kind of opinion, but Dr Manjunath has it in him. Only then will democracy get a good person”, he added.

“Leading a government organisation is very difficult today. Dr Manjunath has led the hospital to great heights and won the admiration of the people. His achievements are worthy of a PhD”, Ranganath remarked.

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Singh said that politics is not bad. “S M Krishna is my favourite politician. Manjunath has a similar personality. People like him should join politics. Politics needs good people like him”, he said.

Adichunchanagiri Mutt seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swami and Suttur Mutt seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami were also present on the occasion.
