Delivery agent assaulted by woman over alleged missing items in order

BENGALURU: A woman allegedly assaulted a delivery agent with footwear over payment for the order she had placed and even threatened him, at an apartment complex in Electronics City under Hebbagodi police limits on Wednesday.

Following the attack, a group of delivery agents staged a protest in front of the apartment complex. The woman, hailing from north India, later went missing.

Veeresh, a gig worker with online grocery delivery platform Blinkit, had gone to Prestige Sunrise Park Norwood apartment in Electronics City to deliver eight items which the woman had ordered.

After taking, the woman and her husband Srini closed the door and opened the package. They then refused to pay cash on delivery claiming that some items were missing. When Veeresh said the delivery had been made correctly, the woman and her husband assaulted him with chappals.

Following the incident, about 50 delivery agents staged a protest in front of the apartment complex demanding that the woman should apologise. However, the woman managed to sneak out of her flat.

Veeresh then went to the Hebbagodi police station to lodge a complaint, both parties were allegedly warned and sent away. The woman even threatened to file a complaint against Veeresh.

On Thursday, activists of Kannada groups arrived at the apartment complex and have threatened of staging a protest.
