Delhi: Two dead, one injured in firing incident in Shahdara, police suspect personal enmity

NEW DELHI: A firing incident in Delhi’s Farsh Bazar on Thursday resulted in the deaths of two people and leaving one injured, in what appears to be a case of personal enmity, according to the Delhi Police.

Based on CCTV footage from the scene, the police have detained a minor, and questioning is underway.

The victims were identified as Akash (40) and his nephew Rishab (16), while Akash’s son, Krish (10), sustained injuries.

According to the Delhi Police, there were previous cases registered against deceased Akash and his family and also the minor detained by the police. As per the probe, the accused had planned the murder 17 days ago.

Further is was noted that there was an on-going dispute over money between the deceased and the accused. The mother of the deceased, Akash, recounted the events leading up to the shooting, which took place in Shahdara on the eve of Diwali.

While speaking to the reporters, she said, “One man named Lakshay had been visiting our lane for the past three or four days. Yesterday, he came to our house with a box of sweets and urged me come downstairs to receive it personally. At the time when my son was preparing to burst firecrackers, two people including Lakshay came and then I heard shots being fired. Next, I saw that my son was shot…”

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shahdara, Prashant Gautam, reported that the PCR call was received around 8:30 pm. Upon receiving the information, the police reached the incident spot. When authorities arrived, they found that Akash, his nephew Rishab, and his son Krish had been shot, with Akash and Rishab succumbing to their injuries.

“At around 8.30 pm, we received a PCR call informing that there had been firing in the Bihari Colony at the Farsh Bazar area and some people were injured. Upon reaching the spot, it was known that Akash (40) his nephew Rishab (16) and his son Krish (10) had been shot. Akash and Rishab have lost their lives,” DCP Shahdara said.The DCP further noted that five rounds were fired during the incident.
