Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide by touching live powerline in Raichur village

RAICHUR: A 32-year-old farmer committed suicide by touching a live electric wire near his house as he was unable to repay his loans.  The incident occurred in Uppaladoddi village in Sindhanur taluk of the district.

The deceased farmer has been identified as Mallappa Teggihala. He had taken loans running into lakhs of rupees from banks and some private moneylenders. As he was unable to repay the loans, he took the extreme step.

A case has been registered at the Turavihal police station regarding the incident.
