Daylight thefts in Kengeri cause panic among residents, demand action

BENGALURU: Panic has gripped residents of Kengeri after a series of daylight thefts in the area over the last two months in the city.

Locals said many cases were reported in the area and all the thefts took place in one day. The latest in the series of thefts are a burglary through the window of a house and the theft of a bike parked in front of another house. The owner of the bike had locked the handle and parked it in front of the house, but the vehicle thieves managed to open the lock with an iron object and stole it.

“Earlier, the thefts were more about stealing things from windows of houses. Because of this, we are scared to leave women alone in the house. The police personnel should solve this issue as soon as possible and we want safety”, said Puttaswamy, a local resident.

Manjunath, the owner of a bike which was stolen in broad daylight.

“I had parked the bike in front of the house around 1 pm and when I came down around 3 pm, it was missing. I immediately informed the police station and gave all the necessary documents. I checked the CCTV footage as well”, Manjunath, the owner of a stolen bike, said.
