VIJAYAPURA: International cricketer Rajeshwari Gayakwad was allegedly involved in a fracas at a supermarket here where she had gone to make some purchases, which led to the store owner sustaining injuries on Wednesday evening.

Rajeshwari Gayakwad had gone to the Umadi Super Bazaar on Solapur road along with a friend to buy some stationary items. When she was going through the cosmetics section, she allegedly got into an argument with the supermarket staff.

The store owner was assaulted by a group of 8-10 men.

Later, a group of 8-10 people turned up at the supermarket and assaulted the store owner Mallikarjun Umadi and his son Prashant Umadi even as Rajeshwari was watching from a distance. It was not immediately known whether she had summoned the group of men to the store.

The store owner Mallikarjun Umadi sustained injuries in the incident.

The incident occurred in Adarsh Nagar police limits. However, SP Anand Kumar said no complaint has been lodged so far regarding the incident. “If a complaint is lodged, we will take appropriate action no matter what the stature of the person is”, he added.
