BENGALURU: A couple, who had taken to thieving, were arrested by the Jnana Bharathi police on Sunday, acting on a complaint.

According to the police, gold ornaments and vehicles worth more than Rs 5 lakh have been seized from the accused and they have confessed their involvement in four cases.

The couple Nagaraj and Ramya made theft as their profession, targeting locked houses.

The arrested couple are Nagaraj and Ramya. Nagaraj hails from Uttarahalli in Bangaluru while Ramya hails from Mysuru. After they first met, the two started communicating on Instagram, fell in love each other and got married.

Jnanabharathi police seized cash, stolen gold, silver, and vehicles.

The duo then started targeting locked houses. During the day time, they used to move around on major roads and identify houses in residential areas to commit theft. If Nagaraj went inside to steal, Ramya would stand guard outside. If they noticed anybody coming their way, they will flee from the house.

Ramya would then pawn the stolen gold and other valuables and the couple used to live on that money, police said.
