CHITRADURGA: An assistant sub-inspector of police (ASI) attached to the Chitradurga Rural police station was caught on mobile phone camera snatching money from a farmer while another head constable is seen threatening to slap the latter.
In the video, ASI Revanna is seen talking to a farmer who had come to the police station to get a land dispute resolved and when the farmer hesitates to pay a bribe, the ASI snatches some money from his hands, but as it was less, he throws it and walks away. In the same video, a head constable can be seen threatening to slap the farmer just a couple of seconds earlier.
Locals have alleged rampant corruption at the police station over the last three months with policemen resorting to extortion from civilians. They have demanded Dharmendra Kumar Meena take note of the rampant corruption and bribery in the police station and take corrective action.
