BELAGAVI/VIJAYAPURA: The Bailahongal police have seized pressure cookers worth Rs 25 lakh, which were stored in a house at Tadasalura village in Bailahongal taluk. The estimated price of each cooker is Rs 1,400. There were no party symbol, candidate name or photo on cooker.
In a separate case on the last day of election campaigning on Monday, two BJP workers were found distributing Rs 1,000 each to voters in Sindagi to lure them. A video of a party worker distributing money to voters in a public place has gone viral on social media.
Congress candidate Ashok Managuli claimed that BJP workers Mehaboob Patil and Akbar Mullah were distributing Rs 1,000 per head to voters at Nagarahalli and Madari villages, asking them to support BJP candidate Ramesh Bhusanura.
Ashok alleged that BJP leader Siddarama Patil Hunalli also distributed money to lure voters. He has demanded that the Election Commission take suitable action.
He said, “BJP always wins elections by money power, and not by people’s votes. The BJP is the ruling party and has made enough money. They decided to win votes by luring voters. People have decided to vote for Congress to save democracy. The Election Commission should take stern action against such election manipulation activities”.
