KALABURAGI: A police constable posted on duty allegedly died after shooting himself inside a police van stationed at Jagat Circle in Kalaburagi, police said on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as Shivakumar, was a constable serving in the City Armed Reserve unit.
Kalaburagi City Police Commissioner Sharanappa SD said , “The police constable Shivakumar, who was working in City Armed Reserve, has shot himself at a police van which was deployed at Jagat Circle”. Based on preliminary information, the commissioner said, “It looks like he has decided to end his life for personal reasons”.
A forensic team was dispatched to the scene. “We are present at the scene with the forensic team,” Sharanappa SD said.
He indicated that a formal probe will follow when the family comes forward with a complaint and more information. “Whatever the complaint the family will give, we will take up the case, and we will investigate it,” the Commissioner added. (ANI)
