BENGALURU: After the Congress government gave in-principle approval to the five guarantees the party had announced in the run-up to the Assembly election, BJP leader K S Eshwarappa said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar had promised to implement the guarantees in the first cabinet meeting itself, but took a U-turn saying that the guarantees are not for everyone.

Eshwarappa also pointed out to the remarks made by Deputy CM D K Shivakumar that the guarantees are not meant for anyone and everyone.

He further said, “They became CM and Deputy CM with the blessings of the voters. But this is not correct in calling them ‘people from the streets’. Leaders of Congress should go meet the same people to ask for votes again for the Lok Sabha elections. That time, the same voters will give a them a suitable answer. But the way the Congress leaders are talking now is not right”.

Eshwarappa claimed that the Congress has insulted the voters of the state. Both the CM and the Deputy CM should apologise to the people of the state because they are not living on the streets, he said..

Lashing out at the Deputy CM, Eshwarappa said, “People never asked the Congress leaders to touch their feet, but you people fell at their feet asking for votes. Now, Congress should talk sensibly”.

Referring to the implementation of five guarantees, he said the Congress promised to implement all of them in the first Cabinet meeting, but didn’t. “Where was their conscience while making those assurances?” he slammed the Congress.

He questioned whether all the promises are fake. “Now, the party is talking about the economic burden. The Congress has come to power by cheating the people. Congress cheated the people by not executing the promises in the first Cabinet meeting. We will not let it go. We will fight against Congress for cheating the people and using poor language. We will make plans regarding this after discussing it with the state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel”, Eshwarappa added.
