BENGALURU: The committee which went into the caste census has recommended special reservation for orphan children, suggesting that they be included under Category 1 and provided with a certificate.
The recommendation is part of the caste census report submitted to the state government last week. The commission, which prepared a special report on orphaned children, has suggested implementing a 1 per cent reservation in education and employment for these children under Category 1.
The commission’s report is based on a statewide survey and draws inspiration from the models implemented in Telangana and Maharashtra, recommending that a similar approach be adopted in Karnataka.
