CM shifts gears of administration with transfers, review meetings

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s busy schedule since Monday has raised much curiosity in political circles in the state.

In a surprise move, IPS officer Kamal Pant was shifted out as Bengaluru city police commissioner and Pratap Reddy was brought in his place. A few other officers were also transferred.

Just a few days ago, some IAS officers were also given new postings and more changes are expected in the next two days.

On Tuesday evening, the CM held a meeting with senior officials at Vidhana Soudha to discuss speeding up the administration, implementation of budget proposals and clearance of files. Additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries and secretaries of all departments took part in the meeting.

Bommai’s cabinet colleagues V Somanna, Byrathi Basavaraj, Govind Karjol, Umesh Katti, MTB Nagaraj, Munirathna and Narayan Gowda also participated.

Earlier in the day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is on an officials visit to the state, paid a courtesy visit to Bommai at the Race View residence.

Ministerial aspirants A Ramadass, Somashekar Reddy, Holalkere Chandrappa and new entrant to the party, Pramod Madhwaraj, also met the CM at his R T Nagar residence.

On Wednesday, the CM will leave for Chikkamagaluru around 10.30 am to participate in various programmes and return late evening.
