BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has alerted its engineers to fill potholes in the city after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has set a November 14 deadline and after a reprimand from the Karantaka High Court to make the city pothole.

After CM Bommai set a deadline, the BBMP alerted its engineers to fill the city’s potholes.

The Karnataka High Court has ordered the BBMP to submit a report and appointed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to check the quality of the roads in the city. The BBMP chief engineer has issued a notice to all the engineers and instructed them to fill the potholes in a scientific manner. Out of 30,000 potholes, the BBMP has filled around 28,000 potholes. The civic body is working on the remaining potholes in the city.

“The BBMP is working towards filling the potholes in the city. Due to heavy rain, the work had to be stopped, but now we have resumed it. Till last year, we had one hot mix plant, but this year we have five, and we are filling the potholes every day. We had filed an affidavit on the quality of the work. The court has appointed the NHAI to inspect the road’s quality. Next week, the inspection will start. Around 2,000 potholes will be filled within three days”, said BBMP Chief Engineer Prahalad.
