BELAGAVI: Bus services were affected for over two hours after the NWKRTC staff went on a snap stir after a driver and a conductor were brutally assaulted by a CISF jawan and some other members of his community at the Bailhongal bus station on Thursday evening.
The CISF jawan, Shabbir Dinnimani, and two others from his community blocked a bus at the Bailhongal bus station and attacked the driver and conductor over a trivial reason in full public view. Shabbir also slapped one of staffers and they assaulted other drivers and conductors who tried to intervene and break up the fight.
Following the incident, the NWKRTC staff at Bailhongal went on a snap strike, leaving passengers stranded. Meanwhile, after the Bailhongal police registered a case, Shabbir Dinnimani and the two other attackers have gone into hiding.
