Cigarette distributor robbed of Rs 15 lakh by trio armed with swords, gun in Nagarbhavi

The cigarette distributor was robbed when he was at a shop in Papareddy Palya in Nagarbhavi.

BENGALURU: Three armed men robbed Rs 15 lakh from a cigarette distributor after flashing a firearm and a sword and using pepper spray on the victim in broad daylight, on 2nd Main Road in Nagarbhavi 2nd Stage on Thursday.

The victim Gopal was travelling in a goods vehicle from Kengeri, visiting shops and collecting payments, unaware that he was being trailed by a trio on a Honda Dio scooter.

When he reached the shop belonging to Nathuram at Papareddy Palya in Nagarbhavi, the three robbers attacked him with pepper spray by the gun- and sword-wielding men who chased him inside the shop.

In the melee, the sword slashed the handle of Gopal’s cash bag which the trio grabbed and fled. The Annapoorneshwari Nagar police visited the spot and registered a case.

Shop owner Nathuram said, “They were wearing full-face helmets and were carrying two swords and a gun. They used the pepper spray, cut the cash bag and fled with it. They may have followed the vehicle which was coming all the way from Kengeri. The distributor is MD Sons and the incident occurred around 1 pm. It all happened in just 30 seconds”.
