BENGALURU: Following the latest discovery of skulls and other human skeletal remains in Banglegudda area of Dharmasthala, the state government is planning to transfer the investigation in that case from the special investigation team (SIT) to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The government is likely to hand over the case to the CID, except for cases related to the alleged mall burial bodies, which will remain under SIT’s jurisdiction. The SIT has reportedly orally indicated to the government about a criminal conspiracy behind the alleged mass burial of bodies.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is expected to make a final decision on Thursday after returning from his Bihar visit. He will discuss the matter with Home Minister G Parameshwara before placing it in front of the cabinet.

The SIT has been asked to submit a chargesheet and report on the investigation into the cases of bodies being buried in Dharmasthala. The CID will likely take over the investigation into the remaining aspects of the case, based on the SIT’s findings. The government will review the SIT’s report and decide on the course of action for the CID investigation.
