MANGALURU: A church priest has been caught on camera assaulting and kicking a septuagenarian couple, at Adyanadka Manila under Vitla police limits. The incident occurred on February 29.
The priest was identified as Nelson Oliveira of the Christ King parish of Periyaltadka in Bantwal taluk while his victims are George Monterio (79) and his wife Philomena (72). The incident was captured on a CCTV camera.
In the video, the aged couple can be seen talking to the priest who is accompanied by another man. Suddenly, the priest shoves Monterio, grabs him by the collar and drags him into a shed, all the while assaulting him.
Though Monterio’s wife tries to intervene and break up the fight, the priest kicks her away while the other man who had accompanied the priest holds her back.
The provocation for the assault was not immediately known, but the video is now viral on social media.
