DAVANAGERE: In a swift intervention, police responded to a tip-off and stopped a child marriage at Shiramagondanahalli village in Davangere taluk. The 17-year-old girl was being forced into marriage by her parents, but some locals alerted the authorities by calling 112.
The police arrived promptly and prevented the marriage, and officials from the Women and Child Development Department also visited the scene. The girl was rescued and her parents were counselled by the officials.
