CCB police write to Centre on arrested terror suspects

BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have written to the Union Home ministry regarding the arrest of five suspected terrorists in the city, as per the National Investigation Act (NIA).

The case of the suspected is taking new twists every day as the investigation progresses. The CCB has submitted a detailed report to the Union Home ministry about the criminal backgrounds of the five suspected terrorists. The report mentioned about the kingpin and his background, which was obtained from the suspected terrorists during the preliminary investigation.

The report mentions that of the seven suspects named in the FIR, kingpin T Nasir, who is in jail, and absconding accused Junaid were training the other suspects. The police have also detailed about the seizure of grenades, walkie-talkies, pistols, and live ammunition from the arrested.

According to the NIA Act, the CCB has to give every piece of information to the Union Home ministry as part of the case registration under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The CCB has registered the under the UAPA Act and are investigating it for sedition, waging war against the country and other IPC sections as they were ready to engage in terror activities. The FIR was lodged at Hebbal police station.
