The CCB police seized fake cigarettes of foreign brands worth Rs 20 lakh.

BENGALURU: The economic offences wing of the Central Crime Branch police has raided a godown behind K R Market and seized fake cigarettes of foreign and a popular Indian brand worth Rs 20 lakh. The cigarettes were hidden in a secret chamber of the godown where cigarette lighters were stored.

During the raid by inspector Sadiq Pasha and team, it was discovered that the culprits had created a secret chamber behind shelves where the fake cigarettes were stored. The godown is owned by one Lalit and cigarettes were being supplied to many parts of the city from this godown, the police said. A case has been registered at the KR Market police station.

The CCB police also raided a house in Shivajinagar police limits where tea power was being sold under the label of a Tata company brand and seized 450 kg of the tea powder worth over Rs 1 lakh. A case has been registered under the Copyright Act at the Shivajinagar police station.
