BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested a minor from Assam for sending an email threatening an explosion at a museum in the city.

A few days ago, more than 60 schools in Bengaluru received threat emails. Even as children and their parents were worried, the police searched for explosives and later declared it a hoax. Such incidents have happened repeatedly, and miscreants have repeatedly carried out such acts of threat from other countries.

Last wee, three facilities in Bengaluru received bomb threats via e-mail among 20 museums across the country. These were the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and the National Gallery of Modern Art in Bengaluru, apart from the Gol Gumbaz museum in Vijayapura.

The email, sent from the ID Morgue999lol, claimed that several explosives had been planted at the museum and would go off in the nexgt morning. The email claimed to be from Terrorizers 111, which had sent a similar email to the Indian Museum in Kolkata.

After preliminary investigation, the police came to know that the emails to two of the tourist spots had come from Switzerland, while the one sent to the Visvesvaraya Museum had come from Assam. Based on this, a CCB police team went to Assam immediately and, after five days, it was revealed that a 12-year-old boy had sent the threat message email. He arrested and brought to Bengaluru.

However, many questions remain to be answered. If the e-mail to 20 other museums in the country was sent from Switzerland, how did a minor from Assam send the exact message to Visvesvaraya Museum? Did he really send the message, or is there someone else behind him?

The police have intensified the questioning of the minor boy, and speeded up the investigation in view of the serious nature of the case. For the first time, Bangalore CCB has succeeded in cracking a fake bomb threat case. More information is expected to be revealed after the case is completely solved.
