Cauvery water release to TN resumes again

The water level in the river has considerably reduced.

MANDYA: The state government has resumed release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu from the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam since Tuesday night following the directives of the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA).

The CWMA had on Tuesday directed the state to release 5,000 cusecs of water daily for the next 15 days. The government is releasing water from the +80 gates despite protest from farmers.

Water is being released at the rate of 7,380 cusecs including for drinking water purposes, leading to a drop in the water level at the KRS dam.

The water level on Wednesday was 101.58 feet against a maximum of 124.80 feet. The quantum of stored water was 24.075 tmcft against a maximum storage of 49.452 tmcft. The inflow was 2,300 cusecs while the outflow was 7,380 cusecs.
