Case registered over offering prayers on road

BENGALURU: A case has been registered at the Siddapura police station after a Hindu activist complained about prayers being offered on the road without permission, obstructing public movement.

Tejas Gowda, a Hindu activist, in his complaint, noted that on February 25, people offered namaz on the Someshwara Nagar Main Road on which there are several important health institutions like Nimhans, Kidwai, Rajiv Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi hospitals and which is used by ambulances.

Such acts not only affect traffic, but also provoke and hurt the sentiments of other communities, the complainant said. He also sought action against the head of the Ateeq mosque in Siddapura ward under Chickpet Assembly constituency and to ensure that such act are not repeated while applying laws equally to all. The police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
