Carjacker who targeted lonely foreign nationals arrested in Bengaluru

The police arrested Syed Yasin and recovered a Hyundai Verna car and a two-wheeler.

BENGALURU: The Banaswadi police have arrested one person who was involved in a carjacking case in the city recently. The arrested has been identified as Syed Yasin (26).

Syed Yasin and his accomplice Mohammed Mansoor would prowl the roads at night looking for lonely car drivers of foreign origin. They would bang the car from behind intentionally and then approach the car driver to apologise for it.

Then they would threaten the car driver with a weapon and make away with the vehicle after robbing the car owner of his mobile phone, wallet and other valuables.

On November 11, the duo carjacked a Sudanese national and threatened him with a knife. They then made away with his Hyundai Verna car. A case was lodged with the Banaswadi police in connection with the incident.

The police have recovered the car and a two-wheeler worth Rs 2 lakh and are on the lookout for Yasin’s accomplice Mohammed Mansoor.
