MANDYA: A speeding truck caused a serial accident leading to one car catching fire and several others sustaining damage on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway near Gowripura in Srirangapatna taluk on Saturday morning. Luckily, the occupants survived with minor injuries.
Mandya Superintendent of Police N Yatish’s car also sustained damage in the serial accident. He was heading towards Srirangapatna when the incident occurred. The highway witnessed a traffic jam and vehicles were stuck for up to 1 km for some time.
According to the police, the speeding truck rammed into the cars ahead of it and one of the cars caught fire. The police managed to rescue the occupants by breaking open the windows. A case has been registered at the Srirangapatna Rural police station.
