BENGALURU: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to complain to the governor against the state BJP government’s decision to cancel 4 per cent of reservation that was given to the Muslim community under the 2B category and including them under the EWS category.

Speaking to the media, the president of the minority unit of the AAP, Fariduddin Sharif said, “No one had questioned the 2B reservation for Muslims. There is no court order to cancel it. However, the state government suddenly cancelled the reservation without giving any prior notice. The BJP has tried to provoke Muslims and create communal unrest in the society for political gain during the election.”

“Educationally and socially, the Muslim community is backward. Muslims are being persecuted because they belong to a minority community. The cancellation of reservation in such a situation has created anxiety among the community. Reservation is a constitutional right for Muslims and the 2B category should be continued instead of EWS. We have decided to file a complaint with the governor and will demand an appropriate directive to the state government”, he added.
