BENGALURU: Those looking to buy an apartment in the city would do well to verify the water connection. The state government has made it mandatory for all upcoming apartments in Bengaluru to have a Cauvery water connection before sale. This rule applies to both builders and landowners.
Dr Ram Prasath Manohar, chairman of the BWSSB, has cautioned that buyers should verify the Cauvery water connection before purchasing flats. He also cautioned that builders should not sell flats without disclosing this information. The Water Board will soon submit a proposal to the government to implement this new rule. Once implemented, builders and landowners who fail to comply will face penalties.
The water board is all set to provide Cauveri water connection with flexible norms. BWSSB chairman said, “We have received complaints from apartment residents. Many citizens got cheated by flat owners and builders. They cheated the apartment buyers by taking money in the name of the Cauvery water connection. Hence, we will take serious action against them”.
Additionally, if builders sell flats without disclosing the information about water connection, they will be held responsible. This move aims to ensure that apartment buyers in Bengaluru have access to Cauvery water. The Water Board has decided to submit a proposal to the government soon to implement this new rule. This rule will apply to all upcoming apartments in Bengaluru, ensuring that buyers have access to Cauvery water.
Citizens have been cautioned to be aware of this new rule and to verify this connection before purchasing flats. Dr Ram Prasad Manohar urged the public to avoid wastage and collaborate with the Board to ensure equitable water distribution to all areas and residents in need. The chairman also announced that the campaign to impose fines would be expanded in the coming days to deter water misuse further. He called on citizens to act responsibly and support the board’s efforts to safeguard the city’s water resources during the critical summer months.
