BENGALURU: Amidst an impending hike in milk prices, bus fares are also likely to increase in the state. Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh gave a hint regarding the bus fare hike when he spoke in the Legislative Council on Thursday about the inevitability of hiking ticket prices.
All the four transport corporations are in a financial crisis and have submitted a proposal to Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for hiking fares. If the CM gives the green signal, bus fares are certainly to increase.
Transport corporations’s argument

- Even after diesel prices were revisesd four times, government did not increase fares.
- Transport corporations are facing losses of Rs 8,000 crore.
- It is becoming difficult to give salary to employees.
