Body of IAF officer, who died in IAF crash, brought to Belagavi

BELAGAVI: The body of the Wing Commander Hanumanth Rao Sarathi, who died in the fighter jet crash at Morena in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, arrived at the Belagavi airport on Sunday morning and was shifted to the family residence at Ganeshpur in Shambaji Nagar.

Wing Commander Hanumanth Rao Sarathi succumbed to his injuries after a Sukhoi Su-30 and a Mirage-2000 crashed on Saturday morning near Morena in Madhya Pradesh during a training sortie.

He is survived by his mother Savitri, father Revanasiddappa, sister, wife and two kids. Indian Air Force officers paid a visit to his house earlier in the day.

Hanuman Rao Sarathi was selected for the Air Force at the age of 18 pursued BSc at an Air Force institute in Pune. Later on, he joined the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad and was currently serving in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

Mother Savitri and father Revanasiddappa said, they are very proud that their children who are serving the nation.

Mother Savitri said, “We are proud that our children are serving the country, but he left us at a young age and has two young children. I spoke to him on January 26 and that was the last call. Our elder son informed us about the crash”.

The family has decided to perform the last rites at Benakanahalli later in the afternoon.
