BENGALURU: The menace of fake digital payment apps has increased in BMTC buses, with cases of conductors being cheated on the rise. The BMTC authorities have now sprung into action and issued instructions to conductors to be vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Some passengers are using fake payment apps to pay ticket fares, deceiving conductors in the process. Following these incidents, conductors have become more cautious, and senior officials have instructed depot managers to take stern action against such malpractices.

Conductors have been advised to keep a close eye on passengers using mobile apps to make payments and verify the authenticity of transactions. If a passenger is found to be using a fake app, conductors have been instructed to inform local police immediately.

Conductors are also being extra cautious, double-checking payments received through mobile apps to ensure that the amount has been credited to the BMTC account. The BMTC’s efforts to tackle the issue have been commended and authorities are working to prevent such scams in the future.

The BMTC is planning to issue a separate notification soon, asking conductors to remain vigilant and taking necessary action to curb the use of fake payment apps.
