BENGALURU: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is planning to cut costs for the Bengaluru Metro project to save excess expenditures. The length of underground stations under Phase 3A on the red line will be reduced by 40 meters, from 210 meters to 170 meters, saving an estimated Rs 2,920 crore.
This reduction will bring down the project cost from Rs 28,415 crore to Rs 25,485 crore. The Red Line, connecting Sarjapur to Hebbal, is expected to be completed by 2031.
The 37 km Hebbal-Sarjapur corridor will have 28 stations, including 11 underground and 17 elevated stations. The underground stations will be located between Hebbal and Koramangala.
