BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has planned to build an elevated Namma Metro corridor above the Delmia Circle flyover to save the existing structure.

Under Phase 3, the BMRCL is constructing a Metro corridor from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura on the Outer Ring Road, covering a distance of 32.15 km. Construction of the Metro corridor has been hindered by the Delmia Circle flyover in JP Nagar, due to which BMRCL now plans to build an elevated corridor. This is the third time that the BBMP flyover is obstructing the work of Metro Phase 3.

BMRCL plans to build elevated corridor above the Delmia Circle flyover to save the existing structure.

To save the Delmia Circle flyover from demolition, the BMRCL has planned to build an elevated Metro corridor above the flyover with the help of new technology. For the construction of elevated Metro corridor, first the portal piers will be constructed on both sides of road and viaduct will be installed. A total of 12 portal piers will be installed on both sides of the Delmia Circle flyover.

Yashwant Chauhan, BMRCL Chief Engineer

“The Delmia Circle flyover is a short and new flyover. According to the project plan Under Phase 3, the Metro line will go over the flyover. We will install portals on both sides. With minimum land acquisition and expense, we have developed a plan to build the Metro corridor”, said BMRCL Chief Engineer Yashwant Chauhan.
