BENGALURU: Namma Metro has some good news for Tumakuru citizens. For the first time, an inter‑district metro service is set to begin from Bengaluru to Tumakuru. This is very a significant step taken by the authority.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has invited bids to prepare a DPR (detailed project report) for extending the Bengaluru Metro up to Tumakuru, a stretch of a 59.6 km, as part of green‑line extension.
Earlier, the government had directed a feasibility study for the DPR of the Madavara‑Tumakuru corridor. Based on that, BMRCL has invited bids to prepare the DPR. A plan to develop it under the PPP model.

Tenders are likely to be opened on November 21, 2025. This will be executed under a public‑private partnership (PPP) model. The first phase of the project is expected to cost Rs 20,649 crore.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced this project in the Karnataka budget 2024‑25. The government set five months’ deadline for DPR preparation. Companies participating in the bid must deposit Rs 4.5 lakh. The deadline for bid submission is November 20.
It is expected that 15,000 Metro passengers will travel per hour in one direction, and about 25 metro stations will be built from Madavara BIEC to Tumakuru.
The potential stations on the Bengaluru‑TumakurU metro route are Madavara, Makali, Dasanapura, Nelamangala, Weaver’s Colony, Nelamangala, Vishweshwarapur, Nelamangala Tollgate, Budhihal, T Begur, Thippagondanahalli, Kulvanahalli, Mahimapur, Billankote, Sopur Industrial Area, Dabaspet, Nallayanapalaya, Chikkahalli, Hirehalli Industrial Area, Pandithanahalli, Katsanra Bypass, Katsandra, IT (Siddhartha College), Tumkur Bus Stand, Tooda Layout, Naganna Palya, and Shira Gate.
