BENGALURU: The city police detained former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, R Ashok and other BJP leaders and took them away in a police vehicle soon after the party staged a protest against the Congress government at Maurya Circle in the City on Tuesday.

Former CM Basavaraj Bommai said, “The Congress has implemented unscientific schemes in the transport department. It is playing politics with the distribution of rice. The state Congress is supposed to give 10 kg of rice but is now hiding the truth and making allegations against the central government. Congress has no money to spend on its guarantees and is cheating the people. The Congress government imposed conditions on ‘Gruha Jyothi’ scheme is giving a shock to the people of the state”.

BJP leader R Ashok asked, “Does Congress have no shame or respect? It kept on telling lies. Siddaramaiah is Sulluramaiah. They should have thought about the consequences before announcing the schemes. Congress is giving with one hand and taking away with the other. It will not fulfill the guarantees announced in the election manifesto”.

Further, Ashoka said, “The Congress is lying regarding rice from the central government. The Centre is already giving 5 kg of rice per person. The state government is supposed to give 10 kg.  Chief minister Siddaramaiah promised that they will implement all five guarantees immediately after Congress comes to power, but it may take more than year to launch them”, making fun of Congress pre-poll promises.
