BENGALURU: Reeling under the burden of the huge dues owed by its customers, the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) has now decided to act tough. In case where bills are pending for three months, the power utility will now terminate the power supply agreement with the customer.

Bescom managing director Mahantesh Bilagi, in a post shared on Twitter said that if its customers fail to pay their bills for three months, the agency will terminate the power supply agreement with them. Once this is done, the customer will have to apply afresh for a new electricity connection. He has requested the customers to pay up the due bills before the agreement is cancelled.

Here is what Bescom says:

  • If a consumer fails to pay his electricity bills for three months in a row, it will initiate the process of termination of the agreement.
  • After the termination, consumer’s electrical supply lines will be dismantled and action will be initiated for recovery of dues.
  • If the consumer requires an electrical connection after termination, (s)he must apply for a new connection at the respective Bescom sub-division.
  • The power utility has asked customers to pay outstanding dues immediately to avoid disconnection/termination of the agreement.
