Bike rider and pillion die on spot, KSRTC bus catches fire after collision on NH

BENGALURU: Two people died on the spot after a KSRTC bus and a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle collided on the Krishnagiri-Hosur National Highway in Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

The bike rider and pillion died on the spot in the accident. Fire broke out suddenly from the petrol tank of the motorcycle due to the impact and the fire spread to the the bus, charring it.

The KSRTC bus was on its way to Bengaluru from Tamil Nadu. More than 30 passengers were travelling to Bengaluru via Hosur. Displaying presence of mind, the driver and the conductor immediately got all the passengers to get off the bus, though some of them sustained minor injuries.

It is alleged that the bike rider suddenly took a U-turn from the service road on to the national highway, and the bus driver lost control over the vehicle and collided with the motorcycle.

The fire fighters reached the spot and put out the fire, but the bus was completely burnt. Due to the incident, traffic was held up on theĀ  highway for a while. The Kurubarahalli police are investigating further.
