Bengaluru South Corporation identifies 7 locations for parking towed vehicles: Commissioner K N Ramesh

BENGALURU: The Benglauru South City Corporation has taken a significant step to control traffic congestion caused by haphazard, dangerous and illegal parking in no-parking zones and on roadsides within the corporation limits.

Following the directives of Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, the traffic police are set to launch a towing operation starting July 10. To facilitate this operation, the corporation has identified seven locations. Commissioner K N Ramesh stated that a letter has been written to the traffic police to utilise these spaces for parking towed vehicles and to ensure their proper safety.

 

In compliance with Section 324 of the Greater Bengaluru Authority Act 2024, and with the aim of preventing accidents, avoiding inconvenience to pedestrians, and ensuring smooth traffic flow, the South City Corporation has handed over a total of six towing vehicles to the traffic police to operate within the corporation’s jurisdiction. Currently, these towing vehicles have commenced operations.

Locations Identified for Parking Vehicles

  1. Government land near Fortis Hospital on Bannerghatta Road.
  2. Area near Ragigudda Metro Station.
  3. The defunct ground in Kadirenahalli.
  4. A 2-acre land at A.E.C.S. Layout, B-Block on Hosur Main Road.
  5. A 1.5-acre land near Nyanappanahalli Bande in Vijaya Bank Layout.
  6. A 2-acre land near Yelachenahalli Metro Station.
  7. Space inside the B.T.M. Layout Police Quarters.

The corporation has provided the designated sites to resolve the shortage of space faced by the traffic police for parking towed vehicles. The corporation has permitted the use of these seven locations for parking towed vehicles.
