Bengaluru-Mysuru tollway staffer bludgeoned to death by group of youths over toll payment

RAMANAGARA: A scuffle between the tollgate staff and a group of youths from Bengaluru over toll payment ended in murder near Hejjala in the district on Sunday. The accused are absconding and police have launched a manhunt.

The deceased has been identified as Pawan (30), a resident of Sikkepalya, Tavarekere, in Bengaluru South taluk. He was working at Seshagiri toll near Bidadi.

On Sunday night, some Bengaluru-based youths created ruckus with tollgate staff over payment of toll. The argument took a violent turn and Pawan was killed after he was hit on the head with a hockey stick while he was going home after work.

Before the murder, around 10 pm on Sunday, a Bengaluru-based group of youths had quarreled with Pawan over toll payment issue. Later, the group was followed him when he was leaving for home after he had finished work. The miscreants killed Pawan when he was on his way home near Hejjala.

 

The Bidadi police visited the spot and conducted the investigation. The body was shifted to Rajarajeshwari Hospital, Bengaluru, for the post-mortem.

The scuffle between tollgate staff and the the group of youths was captured on CCTV camera. Based on the CCTV footage, the police have started searching for the accused who are absconding.
