MANDYA: Work on the 10-lane Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway has reached the final stages and the Maddur Bypass will be open to the public by the end of November, informed Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha on Thursday.
The Maddur Bypass work is almost complete and road expansion joint work is pending. It is expected to be completed in 10–15 days. The Mandya and Srirangapatna bypass roads will also be completed by December. The expressway will be fully open to the public by January 2023. In some places, the canal and underpass work still needs to be completed, Pratap Simha said during a Facebook Live event.
Once the expressway work is completed, the travel time and distance between two cities will be reduced. At present, it takes about three hours andit is expected to be come down to 75–80 minutes. The cost of the expressway project is estimated at Rs 8,066 crore. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans that the expressway will comprise six lanes for the carriageway and four-lane service road.
“I am doing Facebook Live to give an update about the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway. The Maddur flyover is 3.8 km long, and once it opens to the public, it will reduce travel time by 20 minutes. The road expansion joint work is almost completed. The load and safety testing need to be completed. The work was delayed due to heavy rain. We are all working towards completing the project at the earliest”, the MP said.
