Bengalureans cheer as city receives spell of rain again in less than 24 hours

BENGALURU: Less than 24 hours after the city witnessed rain on Thursday evening, another spell of showers late on Friday afternoon brought much cheer to Bengalureans. Just across the border from Anekal, Shoolagiri village in Tamil Nadu even experience a hailstorm.

The Okalipuram underpass was flooded after about half an hour of rain, leaving many vehicles stranded. Two-wheeler riders in different parts of the city were caught off guard.

Water-logging was witnessed at the Okalipuram underpass.

In the afternoon, rain clouds could be seen in many parts of the city and hours later, there was moderate rain around Vidhana Soudha, Majestic, KR Circle, KR Market, Town Hall, Richmond Circle, MG Road, Yeshwantpur, Govardhan theatre, Jalahalli Cross, Nagarbhavi, Vijayanagar and surrounding areas, Sankey, Road, Sadashivanagar, Malleswaram, Whitefield, Jayanagar, Cambridge Layout, JP Nagar, Vasanthapura, Chamarajpet, Whitefield and several other areas.

In the city, Vidyapeetha ward recorded 20 mm of rain, Basavanagudi 20 mm, Hampi Nagar 23.5 mm, Gali Anjaneya temple ward 12.5 mm, Maruti Mandir 25.5 mm, Ramamurthy Nagar 17.51 mm, Kammanahalli 19 mm, Dayananda Nagar 10 mm, VV Puram 10.50 mm, Sampangiram Nagar 11 mm, Cottonpet 11.5 mm, Koramangala 12 mm, Chamarajpet 13.50 mm, BTM Layout 11.30 mm, Arekere 13.50 mm, Kottigepalya 16.50 mm, Nayandahalli 28.5 mm, RR Nagar 27 mm and Billekahalli 24.5 mm.

Several places around Hoskote also experienced heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. At Dasarahalli village, a feast was organised to mark the renovation of a temple, but the pandal was affected and people rushed to find shelter, with all the food on the tables going waste.

A tree fell on a small shop belonging to a woman, destroying it completely, but luckily, she escaped unhurt. The incident occurred near Makali in Nelamangala taluk. Moderate rain was also recorded in Madanayakanahalli.
