The state legislature will meet for the winter session at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha from December 19.

BELAGAVI: An advocate from the city has written a letter to the Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council to rent out the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha here on rent to celebrate his daughter’s birthday on January 30, 2023.

Advocate Mallikarjun Chaukashi, a resident of Badigavada village in Gokak taluk of Belgaum district, wrote the letter seeking to celebrate his daughter’s sixth year birthday at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha.

“My lone daughter Manisri completes 6 years on January 30, 2023. This is a very important day for her. There is a custom of celebrating the birthday of children called ‘Hutadatti programme’. This day comes once in a lifetime. The Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, which is abuzz with activity for only 15 days in a year, and otherwise remains as haunted bungalow, can be given out on rent which will bring revenue for the government”, he wrote.

Advocate Mallikarjun has requested that the Belagavi Suvarna Saudha be rented out to celebrate his daughter’s birthday.

If the government allows private programmes at the Suvarna Soudha, it will reduce the burden of maintenance cost, Mallikarjun said and suggested that the issue be discussed in the ongoing session.

The winter session of the Karnataka legislature is currently under way at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi.
