BENGALURU: Janata Dal (Secular) leader and Holenarsipur MLA H D Revanna on Friday said that his father and party patriarch H D Deve Gowda’s health was more important for him than an MLA’s post. “The position of an MLA is not important for me, my father Deve Gowda’s health is important”, he said.

Replying to questions after the announcement of the second list of 49 party candidates, Revanna said “People wished that my wife Bhavani should contest the election from Hassan. But Bhavani said her father-in-law’s health is more important. I am not disappointed and Deve Gowda’s decision is not wrong. All I want is good health for Deve Gowda. In fact, a month ago itself, Bhavani told me that she is ready to follow whatever Deve Gowda says”.

Revanna further said that the decision of H D Kumaraswamy and Deve Gowda is final. “Our party should retain its hold on Hassan district. As per the decision of the family, we have given ticket to H P Swaroop. The BJP has looted in Hassan for four years”, he said and expressed confidence that the JD(S) will win all the seven Assembly seats in Hassan district.

Replying to question on Y S V Datta’s reinduction, Revanna said, “Deve Gowda and Datta have a close relationship of 50 years. The Congress cheated him. He might have made a small mistake and he has remorse about it. Hence, we will extend complete cooperation”.
