BBMP to set up task forces at zonal level to fill potholes ahead of monsoon

BENGALURU: Ahead of the onset of the monsoon, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath has ordered the formation of task force committees at the zonal level to monitor the complete execution of potholes-filling work in the respective zones.

The total road network under BBMP is about 12,878 km of which 1,344.84 km of roads are considered arterial and sub-arterial roads. These roads are maintained by the Road Infrastructure Department. The remaining 11,533.16 km of roads are being maintained at the zonal level by the BBMP.

The chief commissioner said that setting up task forces at the zonal level will help tackles the potholes and maintain roads within a specified period,. The task force will be headed by the respective zonal commissioners.

Task Force Committee will have the zonal commissioner as chairman, while the zonal joint commissioner, zonal chief engineers, zonal assistant commissioner of traffic police, zonal Road Infrastructure Department executive engineers and executive engineers of the department concerned under the zonal jurisdiction as members and the assistant deputy controller (finance) working under zonal commissioner will be the member-secretary.
