BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has given a deadline to its engineers to fill 7,000 potholes in the city by November 5 and warned of suspension in case of poor quality of road work.
After several fatal accidents and citizens and JDS workers celebrating ‘Pothole Deepavali’, the corporation woken up and ordered its officials to fill 7,000 potholes in the city. The information about the potholes has been recorded on the ‘Fix My Street’ app.
Earlier, the BBMP had informed that 16,000 potholes were filled in the city and another 1,000 potholes needed to be filled. But now, the ‘Fix My Street’ app shows that 7,000 potholes need to be filled. Due to heavy rain in the city, the work was stopped. From October 23, the engineers are again busy filling potholes.
“We have started to fill potholes as the rain has stopped. Along with filling potholes, the BBMP has set up four raw material processing units across the city. We have instructed and distributed the work to the assistant engineer,assistant executive engineer, and executive engineer to fill the potholes in the specific areas of the city. If any engineer fails to do the job, we will take strict action against them. In the coming days, we will close most of the potholes in the city. The Fix My Street App gave information about 7,000 potholes in the city, and by November 5,we will fill all the potholes in the city,” said Prahlad, BBMP Chief Engineer.
