BENGALURU: In the aftermath of the flooding in the city following the recent rains, BBMP chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath has set a deadline for zonal commissioners and tahsildars to review illegal constructions and pass the order for immediate eviction. He also instructed the zonal commissioners and joint commissioners to clear the encroachments on Rajakaluves by November 15.
According to the BBMP records, there are 1,712 encroachments, with 1,348 cases under survey and investigation. Despite court orders to clear 167 encroachments, BBMP has not taken action.
In the East zone, 123 structures are identified for removal and the court permitted 13 structures to be cleared. In the West zone, 46 structures are identified, while in the South zone, 46 structures are identified. Koramangala valley has 104 encroachments and Yelahanka has 359 structures identified for removal. Of these, the court ordered 55 encroachments.
Mahadevapura has 492 structures identified while the the court ordered eviction of 16 encroachments. In Bommanahalli, 201 encroachments have been identified and 25 have been ordered to vacate. In RR Nagar, there are 104 encroachments and 13 have been ordered to be cleared. In Dasarahalli, a total of 287 structures are identified, and 45 have been ordered to vacate. A total of 1,712 illegal buildings were on Rajakaluves and the court issued orders to clear 167 structures.
