BBMP plans to fence all of its 6,828 properties across city, seeks Rs 25 cr

BENGALURU: With the aim of preventing encroachment of its properties, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) estate division has decided to fence all of them.

The civic body has 6,828 properties in all the newly formed 243 wards which include schools, playgrounds, hospitals and offices. For fencing the properties, the estate division has sought a grant of Rs 25 crore.

The Palike has 1,527 properties in the East zone, 1,697 in the West zone, 1,337 in the South zone, 423 in Yelahanka, 576 in Mahadevapura, 481 in Bommanahalli, 679 in RR Nagar and 212 properties in Dasarahalli zone.

The BBMP has also drawn up separate guidelines to prevent illegal flexes and banners after a rap from the Karnataka High Court. Special Commissioner Deepak told Public TV that the revenue inspectors have been directed to register FIRs wherever illegal flexes are found. So far, no FIR has been filed, he sad.

Under the new guidelines, no illegal flexes of political parties, movies, convention or fairs will be allowed and the revenue inspectors have been asked to supervise their jurisdiction. All previous rules are to be followed and cases will be registered in case of violation. Early next week, relevant instructions will be issued to officials, he said.
