BBMP official sentenced to jail, fined Rs 40 lakh in disproportionate assets case

BENGALURU: The Lokayukta Court on Monday convicted a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) for owning illegal properties and sentenced him to four years of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 40 lakh.

The convicted official, Prasanna Kumar, was accused of owning properties 61.69 per cent beyond his known sources of income. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials conducted a search and found disproportionate assets worth Rs 38,96,310.

On Monday, Judge Lakshmi Narayana Bhat sentenced the BBMP officer to four years in prison and fined him Rs 40 lakh for possessing disproportionate assets.
