BBMP moves ahead with Minerva Circle-Hudson Circle flyover project

BENGALURU: Amid the ongoing Sankey Road flyover controversy, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has planned to construct a flyover from Minerva Circle to Hudson Circle in the city.

The BBMP has planned to build the flyover at a cost of more than Rs 250 crore, and it will be 2.9 km-long. The Palike has called for tenders for the new flyover project and the proposal has been submitted to the Technical Advisory Committee.

Earlier, the members of Citizens for Sankey, Bus Prayanikara Vedike, environmental activists and local residents had expressed stiff opposition to widening of Sankey Road and constructing a flyover.

“Under the Amrutha Nagarothana Yojana, we have planned to construct a flyover from Minerva Circle to Hudson Circle. We will construct a 2.9-km -long flyover and it will cost more than Rs 250 crore. We have submitted a proposal to the TAC and once we get permission, we will call for tenders. If everything goes well, we will start the work within two to three months”, said BBMP Special Commissioner (Projects) Ravindra.
